number 4 (well, halfway there...)

Today I went to get my eyes tested, and ordered two pairs of splendidly BLOOMIN' HUGE glasses! Oh yes, half of number 7 is now crossed off - with the other half to follow a week on Monday.

Hopefully laptop will have been restored by then, so vlog will follow...

Spoke to the aforementioned Geordie computer-whizz today, and turns out my laptop has a sick motherboard and needs a new one.

Hopefully should be back up and running by the end of the week, in which case I shall be doing a nice, new, shiny vlog to celebrate it - woot woot.

number 7 (well, it was a start...)

This morning I took a step in the right direction with number 7 on the list. I went... drumroll please... for a BLOOMIN RUN. Oh yes, I kid you not.

I was out there, at half six in the morning, in the pitch dark, pink as a ham and heaving for breath like an 80 year-old asthmatic smoker. Nevertheless, I managed it.

Although, on the way back I got the urge (which, I think can only be due to my body's shock at the unexpected exercise) to spit. Shocking I know, but I've seen footballers do it, so thought it must be the customary hooliganish sporty-type thing to do. So, after looking around sheepishly to check that no one was about (which I'm sure no sensible person would be at that unearthly hour in the cold and dark), I attempted a swift and cunning spit in the gutter.

What resulted, resembled more what happened at 6.14 in this video...

Ye-es, perhaps not so suave and casual.

Nevertheless, I bloomin did it - I conquered my first jogging session, and long may it last! Bring it on baby.

an unexpectedly mint day

Today I ventured out into Newcastle with one of my housemates to try and find a computer repair place in the vain hope that I might be able to get my laptop fixed.

We eventually found a place in a quiet shopping centre, which was run by a couple of Geordie blokes, and proceeded to spend much of the day in their tiny shop with them and their dog with kidney-failure called Smudge.

Turns out there is something wrong with my motherboard/graphics card and it's really common with my particular laptop. Ach. Should cost about £170 to get it repaired, but after that it should be ok. Then normal service shall resume and I can crack on with blogging/vlogging with renewed vigour once more.

In the meantime I have bought a copy of Les Misérables and will settle down with it for the night very contentedly with a hot water bottle on my feet.

infuriatingly

my laptop has given up the ghost. Which, while on a worldwide scale it may not appear to be so important, it's a pretty big bloomin pain in the bum. Agh.

Was just getting into the swing of vlogging - I will be back with a vengeance once laptop is sorted/I've had to fork out an outrageous amount of money for a new one.

Hate hate hate loathesome technology!

Mind you, will probably work out for the best - I've got a couple of exams in the next week or so, so kamikaze laptop probably did me a favour by not leaving YouTube and Facebook looming temptingly before my eyes...

And it's giving me chance to snap away with the ol' camera. I'll post my first batch of pictures on here when I get chance :)

my New Year's Eve

OK, so this may seem slightly after the fact, but worth sharing nonetheless.

Saturday 2 January 2010

this year

I am going to:

  1. Write for the Courier.
  2. Blog at least once a week.
  3. Vlog at least once a fortnight.
  4. Get my eyes tested (and get some new glasses).
  5. Take more pictures. And get them developed.
  6. Take a trip. Somewhere. Anywhere.
  7. Go running.
  8. Read the whole Bible.
  9. Give blood.
  10. Build up a repertoire of 5 songs on the ukulele.
